Merry Christmas from Statedwoods Supply! As we draw closer to the end of the year, we start to reflect back on the past year as well as daydream for the new year.
So much has happened this year, we could write forever and ever. But we don’t want to bore you. There’s still presents to be wrapped and cookies to be made and trees to be lighted. Maybe there’s even one or two project ideas still in your head that you want to create before the new year - unless you’re my sister and there’s 20 projects on the list that she wanted to get done by last year with 50 projects flying out of her garage. Ok, maybe a little bit over exaggerated. But there’s always next year, right?
We all have our favorite traditions and memories of Christmas growing up, and maybe a few from recent years. Maybe it was the stone cold, rock hard paddies made out of stuffing. Or having to always stand at the top of the stairs in matching PJs and say “Merry Christmas 20xx” to the old VHS camcorder before tumbling down in pure excitement. (It was fairly easy until siblings decided they needed showers and makeup to look pretty while opening presents that would forever be documented on home videos). Santa left clothes and chocolate and toys on ‘your’ chair. The smell of Moravian sugar cake and Russian Tea filled the air, Mannheim Steamroller or Kenny Rogers “The Gift” playing in the background, and the however-years old reused chestnuts sucked into the stockings. Let’s be honest - who eats chestnuts?
I personally love hearing about what people love doing for the holidays. Most of the time, I get “It’s pretty standard.” But it’s almost always different from the last person, and some fun thing that they do. Whether it’s baking gingerbread cookies the night before. Or, if you’re my family, playing a riveting game of Trivial Pursuit. We would always get some kind of craft or project that we were anxious to start on. Painting wooden ornaments or creating beaded bracelets would give us hours of entertainment. To this day I still enjoy painting. Statedwoods Supply aims to create ornaments and other products that can inspire experienced and beginner crafters to paint, scrapbook, or decorate. There are endless ideas what can be done with the Santa ornament, or the star, or snowflakes. I know my sisters and I can have the same materiel's and the end results are entirely different X4.
From our family here at Statedwoods Supply to yours, we want to make sure your ideas are possible and are doable. Whatever traditions you have for the holidays, even if necessarily does not include painting ornaments, there is something that makes your family holiday get together unique and special.
I know that in the real world, we grow up. Family moves away for school, jobs, marriage or some other reason. That excitement for Christmas isn’t quite the same. Decorating the tree is not the same without a million hands trying to take the ornaments off as quickly as they are going on. The day family meets to celebrate might change, and not everyone might be able to attend. However, some things never change. The presents, the food, the songs. Yes, I know hearing Jingle Bells for the umpteenth time can be a little repetitive. But it reminds us of a simpler time. It brings our friends and family together. There is something truly special about having a group together that we call family for a meal, exchanging gifts, listening to songs about ghosts and snow.
I may not be as excited to run down the stairs on Christmas, but I can continue the legacy of keeping that excitement alive for the next generation. I know seeing my nephews and nieces excitedly rip their gifts open and immediately start playing with every new toy is satisfying. As long as we still make a point to get together and share together in those special memories while creating new ones, we will start the New Year off pretty lucky. We’ll worry about loosing weight and creating the New Year Resolutions until January 2nd, right?
Until next time, we hope you have fun in your shop. Never stop creating.
